About Rachael Chatham, LCMHC
Founder of Whole Self Therapy, PLLC
I’m a licensed psychotherapist, writer, group facilitator, and educator with fifteen years of experience in private practice. I hold a master’s degree in counseling psychology and have spent my career helping individuals reclaim their voices, soften self-criticism, and step into lives that feel aligned, embodied, and deeply their own.
My work is informed by extensive clinical training, spiritual psychology, trauma-informed care, and years of experience. I bring warmth, intelligence, depth, and discernment to every therapeutic relationship. I work best with adults who value insight, integrity, and growth.
Clients often describe me as intuitive, grounded, perceptive, and emotionally attuned. I am both compassionate and direct, able to hold tenderness while gently challenging patterns that keep you stuck.
When I’m not in the therapy room, you can find me outdoors enjoying the four seasons. I’m a lover of words and word games, so reading and writing are some of my favorite hobbies. I’ve also been a practicing yogi and meditator for twenty years.
Originally from the northeast, I spent most of my formative years in South Florida and about six years in the San Francisco Bay Area. I landed in Asheville in 2010 and have called the mountains my home ever since.
Asheville Counseling for Sensitive, Smart Women Who Do Too Much
At Whole Self Therapy, I offer Asheville counseling for women who are ready to stop living in survival mode and start living from a place of wholeness, power, and self-trust.
A Refined, Relational Approach to Therapy
I specialize in working with high-achieving, emotionally intelligent women who want more than symptom relief. They want meaningful, lasting transformation. My clients are therapists, creatives, entrepreneurs, leaders, and caretakers who are ready to:
-
Stop overgiving and start receiving
-
Set boundaries without guilt
-
Heal perfectionism and people-pleasing
-
Trust themselves and their intuition
-
Create relationships that feel nourishing, not draining
-
Feel grounded, confident, and emotionally free
My work blends depth psychology, somatic awareness, attachment theory, internal regulation, and relational healing. This is not surface-level coping skills therapy. This is a sophisticated, soul-centered approach designed for women who are ready to do profound inner work.
Why Whole Self Therapy?
Because you don’t need to become someone new. You need to return to who you truly are.
Whole Self Therapy is based on the belief that healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken; it’s about integrating the parts of you that learned to survive and helping you live from your truest self. My approach honors your sensitivity as a strength, not a liability, and supports you in building a life that feels emotionally sustainable, relationally fulfilling, and internally free.
If you’re seeking Asheville counseling that is intelligent, soulful, and tailored to high-functioning women who want more from life than “coping,” you’re in the right place.
